The Raiders went to Pittsburgh to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Steelers in a Week 13 AFC matchup. The team was struggling at 3-8 but was looking to take down the champions.
The game was close heading into the fourth quarter with the Steelers holding a 10-6 lead. The teams then began to trade touchdowns in the final quarter with quarterback Bruce Gradkowski leading the way for the Raiders. The backup quarterback got the start and took full advantage of the opportunity throwing three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to defeat the Steelers, 27-24. He found Chaz Schilens once and Louis Murphy twice to end the day with 308 yards and the three scores. Kicker Sebastian Janikowski added two field goals in the first half for the rest of the Raiders scoring.
On defense, Hiram Eugene picked off Ben Roethlisberger once and Trevor Scott recorded a sack. The defense held on just enough in the fourth quarter to allow the Raiders to leave with a win.
That year, the Raiders finished 5-11 and failed to make the playoffs.
