Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is notorious for being one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. While most acknowledge his ability and consider him as one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL, his emotions have continually gotten the better of him leading to numerous on-field incidents.

On Sunday, Suh, after an interception by linebacker DeAndre Levy, threw an egregious low block at the legs of Minnesota Vikings Center John Sullivan well behind the play. Suh will pay a hefty price for the block as the NFL will reportedly fine him $100,000:

The play was terrible for a number of reasons. It completely killed a huge, momentum building defensive touchdown in a game that was very close throughout. Suh also had a chance to just hit Sullivan in the chest and chose to go low for no apparent reason.

With the number of players already gone for the year because of low hits, and his history of incidents, it is almost shocking that Suh wasn’t suspended for at least a game, if not multiple weeks. The NFL needs to send a message if they are truly worried about player safety, and they may have missed an opportunity to do so.
